Teresa Coates Instructor at SewBizJamTeresa Coates – Teresa  picked up needle and thread as a child and hasn’t stopped sewing since. Her professional career in the quilting industry began when she joined The Fabric Shop Network and later became the editor of the magazine Webcents. She next worked for Robert Kaufman Fabrics. As their Media Relations Specialist she was able to combine her love of fabrics, sewing, blogging, social media, marketing and publishing.

Teresa currently works for Fabric Depot in Portland, Oregon and is their social media maven, instructor for garment sewing and quilt making and pattern designer. Her quilting and sewing patterns have appeared in Quilty, Generation Q, Stitch, American Quilt Retailer and Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks magazines, as well as for Fabric Depot, Robert Kaufman Fabrics and Luke Haynes.  Teresa teaches locally and nationally. Phyllis Dobbs SewBizJamPhyllis Dobbs – Learning sewing, needlework and quilting at an very early age, Phyllis’ lifelong love of anything textile related led her to form her own business where she designed and published needlework and quilt patterns. She has authored 3 full size quilt books Dimensional QuiltsFun with Flannel and Asymmetrical Quilts, several instructional booklets, and has had her designs featured in numerous quilt and sewing magazines and over 50 major books.

Phyllis continued her love of textiles by designing fabrics, a lifelong dream. Her first fabric collection was for Hancock Fabrics’ “Designer Series” of fabrics. This led to a job with a manufacturer to design ribbons and textile home decor products. Phyllis has been designing fabrics for the past 9 years for Cranston Printworks in both their Quilting Treasures and VIP fabric lines that are sold worldwide. She has taught nationally and appeared in PBS sewing shows.
